Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Meerkats Rebellious
Mark Shuttlerworth in his blog post announced that Ubuntu under code name "Maverick Meerkat" appear to be the 10.10. Translated means "Meerkat Maverick" means "rebellious elves. Ubuntu appear to 10:10 in October 2010.
I wonder if Maverick Meerkat will already include the GNOME Desktop 3.0. (Provided he is ready by then)
Until the end of October will still be some time and is therefore looking to the upcoming release of Ubuntu: Lucid Lynx is expected to appear on 29.4.2010. Information about it is all here .

Ubuntu 4.10 Alpha 3 Release Lucid Lynx
Today, 25 February 2010 has come. The third release of Ubuntu 4.10 Alpha Lucid Lynx (Lynx bright) was recently approved by Canonical for download. This is the third and therefore last alpha release of the next LTS (Long Term Support) version of Ubuntu.
There are again a variety of innovations and improvements incorporated into the last alpha release:
- Latest GNOME version
- Default search engine from Yahoo switched to FIREFOX
- Linux kernel 2.6.32-14.20 based on 2.6.32.8
- Support for removing the "hal" package - extreme boat performance increase
- New Version 5.4 of Open likewise, to Active Directory
- Nouveau - New open source drivers for nVidia graphics cards
- The Software Center has been expanded to include some features. Views and a new PPA Featured Category
- Social Web integration - in MeMenu is integrated into a new text box that allows Twitter or Identi.ca status without opening the program to update a.
My advice still remains urgent installation of a third and therefore last Alpha release from in a live environment. Who Ubuntu 4.10 but still want to try a test environment on which applies here to download Lucid Lynx , and other information.
In order to upgrade directly from Karmic Koala 9:10 new to the Alpha version you can also Alt + F2 and type the command "update-manager-d" in the command line. The update manager now reports "New distribution release '10 .04 'is available". Now click on Upgrade and follow further instructions.

Wallpaper Ubuntu 10:04 lucid lynx
Saleel Velankar recently that really nice and inspiring wallpaper from the bright lynx (lynx lucid) in the Ubuntu art mailinglist published. This truly successful design work here is definitely worth an entry.

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Alpha 1 release today
Nowadays, 10 December 2009, it has come. The first alpha release of Ubuntu 4.10 Lucid Lynx (Lynx luminous) has just released for download by Canonical. This is the first of three alpha releases of the next LTS (Long Term Support) version of Ubuntu.
My advice is still urgently from one installation of the first releases from Alpha in a Live environment. Who Ubuntu 4.10 but still want to try a test environment on which applies here to download Lucid Lynx , as well as other information.

Ubuntu Gnome desktop in XP Style
A funny idea the developer had PhrankDaChicken of pure boredom and the Gnome desktop in a Windows XP environment umstylte out.
The required files you can here as a tar.gz file download
Unpack the archive with a right click on it and select "Extract Here"
Then open the folder and double-click XpGnome click InstallXpGnome.sh "and then" Run ".
After about 10 seconds shines your Ubuntu in Windows XP shine.
To later return to normal view is located in a folder RestoreSettings_datum "Restore_Settings.sh. Double-click on it, represents the familiar Gnome environment restored.

Today, 5 years ago, and exactly 20 October 2004 was delivered the first version of Ubuntu. The version at that time was 4.10 and was the code name "Warty Warthog" warty warthog. Was supported version 4.10 then up to the April 30, 2006th
